About this WINE
Mas Des Dames
The estate of Mas des Dames dates back to 1750 and the property lies in the hills of Béziers, close to the Mediterranean Sea.
All vineyards face south on clay/limestone soil and the cooling sea breeze provides muchneeded freshness on hot summer days. The Mas des Dames Rouge from Côteaux du Languedoc appellation is a blend of Grenache, Carignan and Syrah. The wine sees no oak, its inherent richness and silky texture being the result of the quality of the fruit.
Other Varieties
There are over 200 different grape varieties used in modern wine making (from a total of over 1000). Most lesser known blends and varieties are traditional to specific parts of the world.

Description
Lidewijs white is a rare beast; 100% Grenache Blanc from old vines in a sheltered plot just outside Beziers, the geology of which is informed by limestone in general and more particularly by distinctive fossilised oyster shells. The wine is aged in older wood, affording full expression to the exuberant old vine fruit and ensuring that the latent freshness is not obscured by the concentration from the Grenache. A good match for turbot, hake or Coquilles St Jacques.
