2009 Cape Chamonix, Rouge, Franschhoek, South Africa

Cape Chamonix, Rouge, Franschhoek, South Africa
A Bordeaux-style wine blend containing Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Malbec with a healthy dash of Petit Verdot, grown on highly suitable soils for these varietals featuring decomposed granite and sandy loam. Fermentation, both alcoholic and malolactic, takes place in tank with a 2-week maceration of the fruit, and the wine is then aged in old French oak barrels for 16 months before bottling.

The bouquet is deep and intense with hints of blackcurrant, mocha and plum. On the palate the tannins are very well managed, with a beguiling softness of texture and a balanced, long finish.
