Star wine. One of the best champagnes I've tried this year, combining rich, toastiness with vibrant, citrus fruit.

Gosset’s 2000 is a very impressive achievement. The wine is a blend of 57% Chardonnay and 43% Pinot Noir, sourced from the finest vineyards of both the Montagne de Reims and the Côte des Blancs. Notes of fig, vanillin, oily-oak and oyster shell evidenced on the nose. The palate underlines this innate complexity, with hints of pink grapefruit, apricot and sour honey to complete the picture. The wine has been made in a rich style and both poise and persistence are evidenced behind the pin-prick acidity and gentle mousse. Perfect with scallops, quail or turbot, to name but three…….
