2010 Condrieu, Côte Bonnette, Domaine Mouton

Condrieu, Cote Bonnette, Domaine Mouton
The decomposed granite of these steep south-east facing vineyards traditionally produces the less opulent of the two Mouton cuvees. One taste and it is clear that the term is relative, such is the generosity of this wine; its viscosity tempered by bright acidity and a refreshing finish. 2 g/l of residual sugar in no way undermines the fine-tuning.
Simon Field MW, BBR Buyer, February 2012

Take the road leading out of Condrieu in a decidedly uphill direction, keep going past the various vues panoramiques of the Rhône, official and unofficial, and you will eventually arrive in the hamlet of Le Rozay and at Domaine Mouton, a little known property but one which makes truly outstanding Condrieu.
