2006 Condado de Haza, Crianza, Bodegas Alejandro Fernández

Condado de Haza, Crianza, Bodegas Alejandro Fernandez
Another of my favourites from the Ribero del Duero and often overshadowed by its sibling Pesquera. The great thing about this wine is that it can be enjoyed young or, if you can be patient, 5-10 years down the line; there are very few wines at this price point that can do this. A fabulous palate of liquorice, blackberry, chocolate and a hint of tobacco. A perfectly balanced wine and the finish leaves you begging for more.
(Ben Upjohn)Bodegas Alejandro Fernandez

Condado De Haza used to be somewhat anonymous, overshadowed by its more famous sibling Pesquera. This is no longer the case. Aged in American oak, the wine is richly coloured and powerful of aroma with notes of blackberry, licorice, tar and mocha all evidenced. A sumptuous mouthful, with balancing mineral acidity at the back in the name of self-restraint.
