Made from 80% Grenache and 20% Syrah, this is a serious wine from a serious vintage. L'Andéol is a 5 hectare vineyard, located on the gentle south-facing slopes of Rasteau, protected from the worst excesses of the Mistral. Made traditionally, this is a great expression of Grenache, with peppers, figs, dark chocolate and spices in the ascendant, and a finely-wrought tannic structure discrete in the back-ground.

From a hotter micro-climate, the 2010 Cotes du Rhone-Villages Rasteau l’Andeol is nearly 100% Grenache. It shows the massive, beefy side of Grenache along with rustic tannins, lots of chocolate and roasted beef notes, and a dense, full-bodied, seriously endowed personality. It should drink well for a decade or more.
