2008 Finca Flichman, Paisaje de Tupungato, Mendoza

Finca Flichman, Paisaje de Tupungato, Mendoza
Finca Flichman is one of the most respected names in Argentina. The Bodegas are located in the areas of Barrancas, Maipú, and Mendoza Province, where the first plots were planted in 1870. The current vineyards are located at up to 700 metres above sea level and centre on the town of Tupungato. They are mainly planted with noble ‘international’ varieties including Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Malbec, Merlot and Chardonnay.

The flagship wine of an impressive range, Paiseje de Tupungato is sourced from old vines farmed in the heart of the Mendoza vineyard. The blend is 72% Malbec, 24% Cabernet Sauvignon and 4% Merlot, the grapes hand-picked and fermented in double-jacketed stainless steel and then aged for a year in a combination of French and American oak. For those who do not identify New World wine with complexity, this is a fine riposte, with the sweet and the savoury harmoniously married very sophisticated tannins and excellent length.
