Description

Tonight we are delighted to welcome back star Californian winemaker David Ramey to the Cellars. David’s approach is to make hand-crafted wines in an Old World tradition, coupled with New World innovation. His wines, whilst warm and welcoming (much like the man himself!), possess at the same time an elegance and well-judged use of oak which render them perfectly balanced.

For his top Chardonnays he follows the single-vineyard model of Burgundy, with fruit from the sites Hudson, Hyde & Ritchie vinified in the same manner, so as to accentuate the differences in terroir between these three vineyards. Don’t miss this golden opportunity to luxuriate in the pure pleasure of these rich wines, as well as to learn from David, who speaks not only with immense enthusiasm but also crystal-clear eloquence about his winemaking philosophy.

Wines to be tasted:

Berrys’ United Kingdom Cuvée Champagne, Grand Cru, Mailly
2009 Russian River Chardonnay
2008 Hyde Vineyard Chardonnay
2008 Ritchie Vineyard Chardonnay
2007 Hudson Vineyard Chardonnay
2002 Hyde Vineyard Chardonnay (en magnum)
2002 Hudson Vineyard Chardonnay (en magnum)
2006 Annum Cabernet Sauvignon
2005 Pedregal Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon
