Carmignano
This famously small and ancient Tuscan zone to the west of Florence has been classified as DOCG for its red wines since 1990. Located high up in the Apennines, its supple, Chianti-like reds are made from between 45 percent and 65 percent Sangiovese with the balance provided mostly from Canaiolo, with some Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon. The wines cannot be released until three years after the harvest.

Carmignano, this famously small and ancient Tuscan zone to the west of Florence, has been classified as DOCG for its red wines since 1990.
Located high up in the Apennines, further north from Chianti Classico, and close to Colli Fiorentini, its supple, Chianti-like reds are made from between 45 percent and 65 percent Sangiovese with the balance provided mostly from Canaiolo and some Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon.
Around 10 percent of the blend is made up of white grapes Trebbiano Toscano, Malvasia Bianca and Canaiolo Bianca. The wines cannot be released until three years after the harvest.
