Au Bas de Combe

See Au Bas de Combe producers
Bas de Combe, 5.43ha , is the last vineyard at the northern end of Nuits before entering Vosne. Méo-Camuzet has a sizeable holding now that the sharecropping contract with Jean Tardy has come to an end.

Jean-Nicolas Tardy considers it halway between village and premier cru in quality and halfway between Nuits and Vosne in style, all fairly evident on the map as it sits below Nuits premier cru Aux Boudots and above Vosne-Romanée Aux Réas. Perhaps this lieu-dit would be better known if it had a more attractive name, as neither ‘bas’ nor ‘Combe’ usually signify top quality in Burgundy. In fact only the bottom part of the vineyard dips down into a combe.
