Located beneath our 310-year-old shop in the heart of London’s St James’s lie our magnificent cellars. Until just a few years ago these were the largest working wine cellars in the capital. In 1999 they were converted to create London’s most exclusive fine dining venue: The Cellars.
The Napoleon Cellar is named after Napoleon III, who plotted his return to France here whilst in exile in England between 1838 and 1848. This impressive vaulted cellar is ideal for large groups and is where we hold our prestigious Cellar Dinners and Luncheons. A huge oak table runs the length of the cellar and can seat up to thirty-six guests. On occasions when there are larger groups to cater for, additional tables are brought in to increase seating capacity to sixty, or with the tables cleared away The Napoleon Cellar can comfortably accommodate as many as one hundred people for canapé receptions.
The Pickering Cellar is hidden beneath Pickering Place, London’s smallest public square and once a notorious venue for duels and bear-baiting. Fitted with state-of-the-art audio-visual facilities, it is used primarily for Berrys’ Wine Schools and Wine Tastings. The Pickering Cellar is also an ideal venue for use in conjunction with The Napoleon Cellar for, perhaps, meetings or presentations for up to 50 people.
The Townhouse, Pickering Place
In a tranquil courtyard behind Berrys’ London Shop you’ll find Pickering Place, the location of our historically important William and Mary townhouse. Once inside this elegant venue you are cosseted from the frantic pace of the capital just a few yards away. Boasting a reception room and two private dining rooms over three floors, Pickering Place provides the perfect venue for our exclusive Long Room Luncheons and Dinners, as well as private entertaining.
The Long Room is located on the first floor of our townhouse. Recently refurbished by celebrated interior designer Nina Campbell, it boasts spectacular period decor and specially commissioned furniture, ensuring complete comfort in classic surroundings.
The Long Room seats fourteen people and is where you are lavishly entertained at one of our Long Room Luncheons or Dinners. On the second floor, The Delft Room, so named because of its antique Delft tile fireplace, seats just six people. Perfect for cosy dinners, this room is only used for private hire.
Private Dining in the Cellars & Pickering Place
The Cellars & Pickering Place are like no other hospitality venues. As well as being in the surroundings of an unique, historical location, you will be assigned a Berrys’ wine and hospitality expert who will help you to match wines to your menu and will be on hand on the day, allowing you uninterrupted enjoyment of the food, wine and unique surroundings.
