A classic Bordeaux white, this 100 percent Sauvignon Blanc is made just for us. Intensely aromatic on the nose, with ripe gooseberry and greengage fruit, the wine has wonderful lift and zest. Fresh and crisp, it has a surprisingly soft finish. A perfect apéritif, but also delicious with seafood, goats’ cheese and asparagus.

Viña Doña Javiera has a history of winemaking that dates back to the beginning of the 20th century. The family was one of the first to recognise the potential of the Maipo Valley and begun planting vines there in 1942. Located at El Monte, 50 kilometres west of Santiago, with exposure to cooling Pacific breezes, this vineyard is blessed with a superb climate for viticulture.
Doña Javiera has produced a smooth, plummy wine for us in 2015. Sweet raspberries and a hint of smoke add to the damson notes on the nose. The palate has good concentration with macerated red cherries coming to the fore alongside bramble fruit. The wine is warming but a leafy freshness balances out the whole. This is an easy-drinking, exceptionally fruit-driven wine which is eminently drinkable.

Our best-selling wine for many decades, GOC, as it is known, brilliantly highlights the sheer drinkability of modern red Bordeaux. The wine is made for us by Dourthe, which owns several leading châteaux, but most importantly is brilliant at blending fruit from around the region to create undeniably classic styles of red and white Bordeaux.
Bright, medium ruby in colour, with a siren-like nose of black cherries, bramble fruit and wood smoke, it is instantly appealing. The palate follows through with delicious, juicy, black fruit and a long, velvety finish. Equally at home with a weekday supper or a grand Sunday roast, it is the perfect wine for all occasions.

This classically proportioned, off-dry Riesling Kabinett comes from the heart of the Middle Mosel, where this grape finds one of its most famous expressions on the vertiginous, grey-slate soil slopes that border the river Mosel. It is made for us by the Selbachs, who have been cultivating Riesling vines in the Mosel since 1661. Today Johannes Selbach and his wife Barbara run the estate, which is now one of the leading producers in the Mittel Mosel. The grapes are handpicked and then fermented in traditional, large oak barrels. The emphasis here is on finesse and purity of fruit.
This is a bright, light and fresh Riesling with delicate citrus aromas. The palate is crisp and vibrant, its ripe fruit layered with a core of fine minerality which typifies the quality of the sensational 2015 vintage.

Loma Larga is owned by the Díaz family, whose interest in wine was noted in the Paris wine exhibition of 1889. With the intention of keeping the family’s wine tradition alive, the family studied the climate and soil of their Casablancan estate, Loma Larga and, firmly believing in its potential, began planting vines in 1999. They are now recognised as one of the best producers of cool climate red wines in Chile.
The new vintage of our own-label Chilean Sauvignon Blanc is a wonderfully aromatic and energetic style, full of notes of gooseberries, nettles and just-mown grass. It is bright and refreshing but with a lovely texture, making it more generous on the palate than you might expect. Loma Larga has excelled in making this wine for us; it is exceptionally moreish with a clean, pure finish.

Owners of the famous Châteauneuf-du-Pape estate Château de Beaucastel, the Perrin family also run a négociant business, making – among others – our own-label Côtes du Rhône. The Perrins have added their not inconsiderable skill to the already outstanding 2015 Rhône vintage and have crafted a delicious wine for our Own Selection range.
Based on Grenache, with Syrah, Mourvèdre and Cinsault in support, this is as rich, spicy and indulgent as it is pure, focused and linear. Ripe red-berried fruit holds court with exuberant self-confidence, imbuing a real sense of joie de vivre.

Bodegas Amézola de la Mora was established in the mid-19th century. Restored in the early 1980s by the flamboyant Iñigo Amézola de la Mora, this estate is extremely unusual (for Rioja) in that it owns all of its vines. The 65 hecatres of vineyards, planted with Tempranillo, Mazuelo and Graciano, benefit from a high altitude and cooler climate, and yield elegant, classic wines packed full of harmonious red berry and vanilla flavours.
We have enhanced our much-loved Rioja Crianza in 2014 with a dash of rich Reserva wine for added structure and depth. The nose is full of comfortingly familiar notes of sweet vanilla, while the palate brims with dark berry fruits and hints of peppery spice.

The producer behind our own-label Australian Shiraz, Elderton, is run by the Ashmead family (currently Allister and Cameron). The winery is located on the banks of the Barossa Valley`s North Para River, just outside the town of Nuriootpa. The fruit is drawn from 31 hectares of high-quality vineyards in the Barossa Valley. Aged between 40 and 102 years old, coupled with minimal irrigation, the vines produce rich, concentrated fruit showing off classic varietal flavours.
Barossa Shiraz is all about texture: smooth, chocolate-rich liquid that glides across the palate. This is a prime example of the style but incorporates an added lift of crunchy red fruit, bringing a welcome freshness to this very drinkable wine.

Pulenta Estate is owned and run by brothers, Hugo and Eduardo Pulenta. Situated in Alto Agrelo in Mendoza, it enjoys excellent climate conditions and panoramic views from up to 980 metres above sea-level. Irrigation comes from melted water running off the Andes and the whole process is de facto organic. The brothers’ philosophy is expressed thus: “Making a great wine is an act of generosity, considering always the one who will taste it. Our mission is to produce limited series of great wines, proudly made in Argentina.”
This wine has a lifted, aromatic nose of sweet black cherry and blackberry fruit. Its attractive perfume leads on to a smooth, silky palate full of ripe, crunchy blueberries. The wine is not heavy at all and has great freshness, making it very moreishly appealing. This would be an excellent match for mid-week fajitas or spaghetti bolognese.

Our Australian Chardonnay was previously sourced from Elderton (the same people who make our own-label Shiraz) in the Barossa. This wine, however, comes from the cooler climate found in Frankland River, Western Australia. As a result, the wine is leaner and fresher, with a delicious zing.
The nose is pure and full of white peach fruit with a fresh sea-salt hint. Ripe pears and yellow apples follow, and a lemon citrus note brings a refreshing zip to the palate. The wine has an appealing texture and a light hint of toast adds complexity to the finish. This would be a delicious accompaniment to seafood linguine and creamy chicken dishes alike.

A blend of Grenache and Cinsault, direct pressed and fermented at relatively low temperatures, this is an archetypal Provence Rosé, a category which is getting more and more popular and in which the spectrum of quality is ever-widening. Mascaronne is right at the top of the pile, quite literally, its stony, photogenic vineyards carved out of the rocks, its fruit cultivated organically and at low yields.
The 2016 vintage enjoyed a benevolent ripening season, even by Provençal standards, and this harmonious backdrop has been expertly captured by our friends at Mascaronne. Cinsault and Grenache are the majority shareholders here, and are perfectly complementary; the first floral and lifted, the second rounded and generous. The wine is a symphony of red fruit and soft spice, its gentle nacreous colour perfectly antithetical to the expressive and joyful fruit basket of the palate.

A step up from our Good Ordinary White, this wine is bottled for us by the renowned Bordeaux family, JM Cazes (whom you may know as the owners of Ch. Lynch Bages). The 2015 vintage of this white Graves is a particularly fine one.
The warmth of the year is evident in the ripe peach and melon aromas on the nose. On the palate, the fruit is unusually rounded and complete. Here, preserved lemon gives way to riper, tropical fruit flavours, but the finish is as bone dry and refreshing as ever. This clean, crisp wine can be enjoyed on its own, with seafood and even with richer chicken dishes.

Churton is a small Marlborough winery, owned and operated by Sam and Mandy Weaver. They focus on producing Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir that combines the renowned flavour and aromatic intensity of Marlborough fruit with the finesse and complexity characteristic of fine European wines. The couple converted one of their Sauvignon blocks especially for us at the beginning of the growing season and tended it throughout the 2015 vintage with this wine in mind. Their superb efforts have paid off admirably.
Full of fresh gooseberries, hints of tomato leaf and passion fruit, there is nonetheless an elegant restraint here. The typical Marlborough pungency is held in check by tangy citrus notes and a fine, mineral finish. This is a delicious wine with verve and vibrancy.

Guy Mothe built up the highly successful Domaine du Colombier by starting with a tiny holding and then acquiring small parcels of land that came up for sale over the years. Today the domaine has 33 hectares of vineyards and is run by Guy`s son, Thierry. The estate is a first-class source of pure, unoaked, mineral-laden Chablis – a truly typical style that is worthy of our Own Selection range.
The 2015 vintage in Chablis was characterised by a warm dry summer which has lent this wine a riper fruit profile than its predecessor. When we joined Thierry Mothe to select the blend we therefore took great care in choosing parcels which offered refreshing acidity and minerality in order to preserve the steely character of classic Chablis. Its aromas of citrus and oyster shell point to a predictable (but unsurpassable) pairing with shellfish.

Since its first vintage in 2002, “EOC”, as it is known, has become one of our best-selling wines. The fruit for this Claret comes from a beautiful Graves estate belonging to the JM Cazes family, one of the great names in Bordeaux. Merlot dominates the nose, with heady, cherry-laden fruit and sweet, dark chocolate aromas. Cabernet comes through more on the palate, with blackcurrant and cedar wood much more to the fore. There is structure and weight here, but all wrapped in a very drinkable, traditional style. Drink now, with roast lamb, beef and mature hard cheeses.

David Sautereau has defied the challenging 2016 vintage with this outstanding wine, a magnifcent weave of Sancerre's ancient soils. A flinty grip lends to tension and backbone to a beautifully concentrated mid-palate, which rejoices in fresh, cool, green fruit, followed by a gently leafy and evocative finish.

Nikolaihof dates back almost 2,000 years to Roman times and is the oldest wine estate in Austria. Today a combination of tradition and strict adherence to biodynamic principles lie at the heart of the winemaking philosophy. The results are wines that express pure varietal character and a distinct sense of place.
The 2015 vintage provided Nikolaihof with wonderfully clean and healthy Gruner Veltliner fruit. This Federspiel enjoys extended time on its lees in large, old-wood casks, which adds complexity and texture to the mid-palate. Aromatically, it is fresh and bright, with hints of wax and fl¬orals. The palate hints at apricot kernel and greengage, with fresh acidity lifting and lengthening the finish.

With its deep, vibrant colour and pronounced cassis and cream on the nose, there is something instantly appealing about this classic Claret. The palate is filled with dark cherry and currant fruit, and there is a gentle lick of oak, with a long, rounded finish. Red wines from Pessac are traditionally very savoury, long-lived and the perfect foil to hearty food. This is a fraction more modern and can be enjoyed immediately, with a broad range of dishes.

Domenic Torzi and Tracy Matthews were going to grub up their Frost Dodger Riesling vineyard – until we persuaded them to continue making the wine, exclusively for the Berry Bros. & Rudd Own Selection range. Our Buyer Catriona Felstead MW has worked closely with them to create this thrilling Eden Valley Riesling.
Aromas and flavours of classic lime fruit move through to a peach-stone core and are followed by an immaculate, wet-stone finish. The real beauty of this wine, however, lies in its impressive weight and texture, which combines with a porcelain freshness, invigorating the palate. This is a fantastic example of what Eden can achieve and is also a thoroughly refreshing wine.

Pomerol produces arguably the finest Merlot-based wines in the world; renowned for displaying both elegance and intensity. One of two Right Bank communes to be represented in our own-label range (the other being St Emilion), this example is made for us by Ch. Feytit-Clinet. Previously part of the Moueix stable, the property is now in the hands of Jeremy Chasseuil, who has been producing outstanding wines here since the 2000 vintage.
This wine is suave and polished, with a nose of plum and chocolate, and a balanced, supple, yet defined finish. The wine is a blend of 90 percent Merlot and 10 percent Cabernet Franc. Aging takes place in oak barrels according to the subtleties of each individual parcel.
Bottle 12 x 75cl301cs
The 2014 vintage of our own St Emilion comes from a marvellous Grand Cru property managed by Alain Vauthier, co-owner of Ch. Ausone. A predominantly Merlot blend, this is a delicious example of the region from the team at Ch. Fonbel. The nose is bursting with bramble fruit and mocha notes, while the palate is rich, velvety and absolutely seamless. This will age well for a year or two, but is drinking beautifully now. Match it to roast lamb, a rib of beef and fine, hard cheeses.

Olivier Merlin is widely regarded as being one of the very finest winemakers in the Mâconnais. He and his wife Corinne began in 1987 by renting 4.5 hectares. Since then he has been buying the property in stages, adding new vineyards and making wines as a négociant. He has established a reputation as one of the region’s most dynamic growers, with exceptional winemaking talent. Our 2015 Pouilly-Fuissé provides a sunshine Chardonnay from the rolling hills of this famous appellation. Intense, ripe, white fruit blossom dominates the nose, revealing a succulent palate behind, balanced by a fine thread of mineral acidity. This is a wine which will stand up to richer sauces with fish or poultry.

Made for us by Davide Rosso, this Barolo offers classic Nebbiolo character and structure. Since first bottling his family’s Serralunga d’Alba fruit in the late 1990s, Davide has rightly gained a reputation as one of the region’s finest (Nebbiolo) winemakers. He may not have the name or history of some of his famous neighbours but perhaps as a result he’s further incited to prove himself. That he is surely doing, with a range of peerless Serralunga Baroli, traditionally and expertly made. The fine yet densely packed tannins are enveloped in scented cherry and cranberry fruit, with florals that hint at dried violets. The opulent texture is balanced by refreshing, racy acidity and a core of chalky minerals. Accessible and seductive, this is a pleasure to drink now, but the sophistication, refinement and concentration will allow it to age further in bottle. It will benefit from being decanted.
Bottle 6 x 75cl232cs
Made for us by Andrea Mantengoli of La Serena, whose vineyards are located on Montalcino’s eastern flank, this is an example of true Brunello at its best. Stylistically La Serena’s wines echo those of its neighbours, such as the more celebrated Cerbaiona next door. The wines display a great drinkability even when young, all while respecting the identity of their piece of Montalcino terroir.
Bright in appearance, with ripe red cherry and herbal aromas on the nose. The palate is ripe and poised, with fresh acidity that adds definition to the mid-palate. As is characteristic of this wine, the tannins are finely wrought.

The Oremus wine estate has a long and colourful history, with Tokaji being produced there as early as 1620 by a Calvinist priest called Mate Szepsy Lacko. In 1993, the 33-hectare estate was bought by a Spanish consortium headed by David Álvarez, the owner of Vega Sicilia. The aim at Oremus is to produce Tokaji wines of elegance and balance with perfect harmony between the sweet fruit and natural acidity. The 2011 vintage has yielded a more elegant and floral interpretation of this Tokaji Aszú wine. The nose has notes of orange blossom and peach, interspersed with honeysuckle and acacia. The palate is beautifully poised with the trademark acidity acting as counterpoint to the noble-rot sweetness. The long finish is fresh and vibrant.

Having created a name for himself as régisseur (general manager) of Domaine du Comte Armand in Pommard, Benjamin Leroux established, with English backing, a small négociant business, based in Beaune since 2007. The possibilities are very exciting for this exceptionally talented vigneron. Benjamin is a master at delivering purity of fruit alongside a seamless texture in his wines, which have only the subtlest influence of oak. From vines currently undergoing organic conversion, Benjamin Leroux has fashioned this delicious Nuits-St Georges; a wine with a vibrant bouquet of red cherries and fresh plums, and lovely, rich, ripe fruit across the palate. Drink this suave and succulent Burgundy with poultry, lamb or rare roast beef.

Patrick Javillier is now one of Meursault's best growers. An electrical engineer by training, he later studied oenology in Dijon before taking over his father's small Meursault estate. It would be difficult to find another winemaker with quite such a perfectionist attitude as Javillier, a man who approaches winemaking with the precision of a research scientist, yet is always ready to question his own success. The results are startling.
Patrick Javillier has crafted a superbly balanced Meursault for our own-label range in 2015, using grapes from the top, middle and bottom of the hillside. This delicious white Burgundy displays a classy, fresh-fruit nose, with beautifully rounded fruit on the palate, with ripe yet fresh yellow-plum notes. This is a very classical Meursault, with a pure long finish.
