Uniting Hans Zenner and Sebastiano Costantino, Rigoria is an artisan producer of Nero d'Avola wines and olive oil, located near Ferla in the Val di Noto province of Siracusa, Sicily.
More precisely, Rigoria's 6 hectares of Nero d'Avola vines lie in the Pachino Contrada Bufalefi, part of the prized Eloro DOC, close to the nature reserve of Valle dell'Anapo, on the lofty Monte Iblei limestone/volcanic plateau at 600 msl; this is the heartland of Nero d'Avola, famed for its Pinot-esque perfume and softness.
Their two Nero d'Avola wines are made in cement and stainless-steel: 'Costante', a fresh, fruity, young vine Nero d'Avola with 5% international grapes; and 'Terre delle Sirene', a weightier, earthier, 100% Nero d'Avola from slightly older, alberello (free standing) vines.
