Chateau Labegorce-Zede

Chateau Labegorce-Zede

This property was partitioned off from the Labérgorce estate back in 1795 - today it produces far superior wine than Labérgorce and is one of the best Cru Bourgeois properties in the Médoc.

There are 28 hectares of vineyards, located on gravel-rich soils at Soussans near Margaux - many of the vines are around 50 years old. The estate was purchased in 1979 by the Thienpoint family of Le Pin fame and manager Luc Thienpoint has propelled it into the top rank of Cru Bourgeois estates.

The wine is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (50%), Merlot (35%), Cabernet Franc (10%) and Petit Verdot (5%) and is matured in oak barriques (50% new) for 18 months. The wine is rich, concentrated and exquisitely well-balanced.
