Transcontinental Rum Line is a rum brand owned by La Maison du Whisky, an independent spirits bottler. The range includes various bottlings, intended to showcase the spectrum of styles and flavours that rum can demonstrate depending on the conditions of its maturation.
Transcontinental Rum Line Panama 2006 is a single-cask rum that underwent eight years’ ageing in ex-Bourbon casks in Panama (with its tropical climate) before being shipped to Europe (and its continental climate) for a further nine years’ maturation. The rums in the range are bottled at cask strength, and the labels share considerable technical detail – including the proportion of tropical versus continental ageing.
