Ruppert-Leroy is an innovative producer in the Aube region of Champagne, France. The estate was founded by Bénédicte Ruppert and Emmanuel Leroy, known for their dynamic winemaking approach and commitment to producing terroir-driven and organic wines.
One of the distinguishing features of Ruppert-Leroy is their dedication to biodynamic viticulture, which involves a holistic and environmentally conscious approach to farming. By respecting the natural cycles and rhythms of the vineyard, they aim to create wines that reflect the true character of the land and the grapes.
The estate covers around 5 hectares of vineyards, mainly planted with Pinot Noir and a smaller proportion of Chardonnay. With its Kimmeridgian soils, the Aube region provides an ideal terroir for Pinot Noir, allowing Ruppert-Leroy to craft expressive and complex wines.
In the cellar, Bénédicte and Emmanuel employ non-interventionist winemaking techniques, allowing the grapes to express themselves without excessive manipulation. They utilise oak barrels and stainless steel tanks for fermentation and ageing, carefully choosing the vessel that best suits each wine.
