Château Patache d'Aux is located in the far north of the Médoc in the commune of Begadan. It is owned by the Lapule family and consistently produces one of Bordeaux's best value clarets. There are 43 hectares of vineyards planted with 70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot, 7% Cabernet Franc, and 3% Petit Verdot.
The grapes are fermented in a combination of stainless steel, wooden and concrete tanks. The wine is then matured in oak barrels (30% new) for 12 months before being lightly fined and then bottled. Patache d'Aux produces robust fruit drive clarets that, whilst eminently appealing in youth, tend to show at their best with 4-5 years of bottle ageing.
