Indri, Trini, The Three Wood, Single Malt Whisky, India (46%)

The Indri Trini Three Wood is a delicious introduction to this producer, based in the foothills of the Himalayas. This whisky stands out from being aged in three different casks, each of which contributes elements to a rich, rounded whole. Ex-red wine casks offer berried notes and grippy tannins, whilst ex-PX Sherry casks contribute dense, dried fruits. The ex-bourbon casks do the real work here, though, providing backbone and – with skilled whisky-making – preventing the other casks from dominating.
