Description

Emblematic of the Littlemill style, this is remarkably youthful for a 45-year-old whisky. The nose is brimming with apple, elderflower, hazelnuts and grapefruit. On the palate, the complexity gained from its advanced age becomes apparent. A silky texture dances in the mouth with cherrywood, caramelised brown sugar, candied peel, sultanas and grilled pineapple lingering for what feels like an endless length of time. This is a unique and seriously exciting dram.

Littlemill Distillery, Lowlands

Littlemill is one of Scotland’s “ghost distilleries”. With a history dating back to 1772, it has the enviable claim of being the first malt whisky distillery in the country. Sadly, production stopped permanently in 1994, and the remaining buildings were destroyed by fire in 2004. Today, a housing development stands on the site.
