From the closed Clackmannanshire distillery Cambus, this single grain whisky was produced two years before distilling finally ceased in 1993. The stills are long gone, although the site has been retained and now operates as a cooperage.
The nose of this classy old grain whisky offers butterscotch, desiccated coconut and Belgian waffles, with ginger and cheesecake emerging with time. The palate follows with waves of fudge, cinnamon, cloves and chocolate, showing remarkably good texture. Pecan, sultanas and bruised banana all show through the lingering finish. This whisky is a challenge to those who say all grain whiskies lack complexity.
