2007 Diplomático, Single Vintage, Rum, Venezuela (43%)

Many of Venezuela’s finest rums wear the Diplomático label, with the peak of their core range being the single vintage offerings. The most recent of these is this luscious 2007. Before I’ve even taken a sip, I find this rum to be incredibly moreish, with a nose of sweet vanilla and other bakers’ treats. The enjoyment continues as honeyed oak and some touches of dried berries join the show. A bottle of this, opened amongst a firm group of friends, seems a wonderful way to start a weekend…
