Description

Mario makes his Monforte d’Alba according to a historical and unique style. As the fruit comes from a rented vineyard, he didn’t want to change the blend of his Classico, and therefore vinifies this parcel separately. Maturation is in a glass demijohn that sits on the Portico, giving the wine a wild touch. The palate is pure and sweet, with high-toned fruit and Monforte intensity whilst the nose is alive, vibrant and wild. Production here is very small, with 1,200 bottles being produced annually.

Nebbiolo

Nebbiolo is the grape behind the Barolo and Barbaresco wines and is hardly ever seen outside the confines of Piedmont. It takes its name from "nebbia" which is Italian for fog, a frequent phenomenon in the region.
