A beautifully balanced, multi layered wine which is wonderfully approachable in youth. The nose draws you in with intense aromas of ripe red cherry, raspberries, mulberry and fine spice. The palate is incredibly pure with complex layers of ripe red fruit alongside lingering notes of violets and a hint of nutmeg. There is a silky, almost creamy texture to this wine alongside impressive freshness and an immensely satisfying finish.

About this WINE

Tenuta dei Sette Cieli

Tenuta dei Sette Cieli

"Tenuta dei Sette Cieli" translates to "Estate of the Seven Skies," perfectly capturing the essence of the winery's elevated position and awe-inspiring panoramic views.

Nestled on the slopes of the Monteverdi Marittimo hills, in the heart of Tuscany's Upper Maremma region, this estate benefits from a truly unique terroir. Combining high altitude, invigorating breezes from the Tyrrhenian Sea, and diverse soil types creates exceptional wines with distinct character and complexity.

With a firm commitment to sustainable and organic viticulture, Tenuta dei Sette Cieli meticulously tends to its vineyards by hand, ensuring the utmost attention to detail and cultivating the highest quality fruit. The estate embraces limited production, allowing for precise craftsmanship and an authentic expression of its terroir.

Specialising in cultivating Bordeaux grape varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, and Petit Verdot, the winery capitalises on the unique microclimate and terroir of the estate. This results in wines that exhibit an exquisite balance of elegance, depth, and finesse.

Visiting the estate offers an opportunity to immerse oneself in the winery's rich history and winemaking traditions. Tenuta dei Sette Cieli firmly establishes itself as one of Tuscany's notable and esteemed wine producers by upholding a dedication to excellence and sustainability.

Sangiovese

Sangiovese

A black grape widely grown in Central Italy and the main component of Chianti and Vino Nobile di Montepulciano as well as being the sole permitted grape for the famed Brunello di Montalcino.

It is a high yielding, late ripening grape that performs best on well-drained calcareous soils on south-facing hillsides. For years it was blighted by poor clonal selection and massive overcropping - however since the 1980s the quality of Sangiovese-based wines has rocketed upwards and they are now some of the most sought after in the world.

It produces wines with pronounced tannins and acidity, though not always with great depth of colour, and its character can vary from farmyard/leather nuances through to essence of red cherries and plums. In the 1960s the advent of Super Tuscans saw bottlings of 100% Sangiovese wines, as well as the introduction of Sangiovese/Cabernet Sauvignon blends, the most famous being Tignanello.
