Description

Hosted by Barbara Drew, Wine School

Alsace produces some of the most aromatic and exotic wines around, from spicy Pinot Gris to the heavily perfumed Gewürztraminer. Often, these heady aromas dissuade people from trying these wines with food, but they are the perfect match for many classic Christmas dishes, such as terrines, cured meats and fish. This lunchtime lecture will give you the opportunity to try six different Alsace wines, including a sweet late-harvest wine, with a variety of Christmas-themed dishes, whilst learning about this unique and picturesque region.

Wines to be tasted include:

2011 Muscat, Domaine Lucas & André Rieffel
2011 Pinot Gris, Zellberg, Domaine André Ostertag
2007 Riesling, Cuvée Frédéric Emile, F.E. Trimbach
2010 Riesling Pflaenzerreben, Domaine Rolly-Gassmann
2002 Gewürztraminer, Stegreben de Rorschwihr, Domaine Rolly-Gassmann
2006 Pinot Gris, Clos Jebsal, Vendange Tardive, Domaine Zind Humbrecht
