Description

Come and join us to celebrate the best of South Africa at a tasting and dinner – held in association with South Africa’s prestigious Cape Winemakers Guild – in our Sussex Cellar on Monday 10th September.

The Guild is a collective of some of South Africa’s finest winemakers –  46 members, all experts in their respective fields, who represent the pinnacle of South African wine achievement. Guild members have been at the forefront of developing the South African wine industry: from the making of Port-style wines and the establishment of Méthode Cap Classique and Cape blends, to the opening up of new, cooler wine regions and the introduction of sustainable, environmentally responsible farming.

Each year, Guild members are invited to make a wine exclusively for The Guild, always in small quantities and often just single barrels. On the first Saturday in October the annual Nedbank Cape Winemakers Guild Auction takes place and these unique wines are sold to top collectors, restaurants and specialist South African Wine suppliers. This evening, you will have a chance to sample some of these unique wines.

Guild members Rianie Strydom (Strydom Family Wines) and Louis Strydom (Ernie Els Wines) will be hosting the tasting and dinner, providing their insights to the various wines on show. They will be showing around 10 wines from the selection available at this year’s auction, followed by a four-course meal accompanied by another four auction wines.
