Berry Bros. & Rudd's examination courses are devised by the Wine & Spirit Education Trust (WSET). These formally and internationally recognised courses are followed by those entering the wine and hospitality trades, but are also ideal for those seeking official recognition of their achievements.
We’d like to assure you that we’re running our WSET courses in line with government advice, with social distancing and hygiene measures in place.
During the course, emphasis is on personal tuition and group discussion in our unique surroundings. As well as delicious lunches, refreshments are served during the day. The course ends with a celebratory glass of Champagne to toast your achievement.
The price covers WSET examination fees, course materials, accredited tuition, use of our equipment and our tasting samples. Course materials and mock papers are sent to you before the course begins, so you can start your studies before classes commence.

Description
This evening course will be a fun and informative way to complete the WSET Level 2 qualification. We will cover the course over four weeks, with the exam in the fifth week. Starting at 5.30pm, each session will include a light buffet supper, ending at 9pm.
The WSET Level 2 Award is devised by the Wine and Spirit Education Trust and is the internationally recognised course that is followed by those entering the wine and hospitality trades. It can be comfortably achieved by those with little or no previous wine knowledge. A selection of wines will be tasted at each session, offering a broad introduction. The course also teaches tasting techniques from which to build tasting experience. We cover the syllabus over four weeks and the examination is sat in the final fifth session by way of a 50-question multiple choice paper to be completed within one hour.
The course cost covers WSET examination fees, WSET course materials, WSET accredited tuition, use of Berry Bros. & Rudd equipment and tasting samples. Course materials are sent to you in advance after registration and we recommend that you read them thoroughly before starting the course.

Course introduction, tasting technique, food and wine pairing and social responsibility
Factors influencing the style, quality and price of wine and understanding the label
Session 2: Monday 16th September 2019
Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Sauvignon Blanc
Session 3: Monday 23rd September 2019
Syrah, Grenache, Riesling, other white grape varieties and sparkling wines
Session 4: Monday 30th September 2019
Other black grape varieties, sweet wines, fortified wines and spirits
Friday 4th October (10am to 3pm in the Pickering Cellar)
Mock exam and revision
Monday 7th October
50-question multiple-choice paper, followed by a glass of Champagne
