Description

Although a much smaller region, Barolo is often compared to Burgundy in terms of the quality of its wines and the complexity of its terroir. As in Burgundy, wines are made from a single noble variety, Nebbiolo, and the best take years of ageing to reach maturity. Somewhat less well-known, but no less exciting, is Barolo’s neighbour to the east: Barbaresco. Here, wines made from the same grape, Nebbiolo, are said to be easier to enjoy in their youth than the famously age-worthy wines of Barolo. After a delicious apéritif, we will sample 10 wines from both regions to see whether we can detect the differences. Hosted by Barbara Drew MW, Wine and Spirits Education Specialist
