Our Rioja mixed case brings together three delicious wines from across the region. It includes the Allende Tinto, Viña Ardanza and Plácet from Palacios Remondo. It’s perfect for restocking your wine rack with reliably delicious Rioja.
This mixed case contains two of the following wines:
2014 Allende Tinto, Rioja, Spain
The eponymous red 2014 Allende shows some evolution on the nose, with notes of honey and beeswax, an herbal touch and some spices. It feels like a lighter year, a bit more fragile and delicate. This is a year to drink sooner rather than later. 300,000 bottles produced. It was bottled in May 2018.
2015 Vina Ardanza, Reserva, La Rioja Alta, Rioja, Spain
The nose is very fresh and youthful at present, showing typical oak-spiced red-berry fruit, with fragrant rose and violet notes. On the palate, the wine is wonderfully complete and balanced, with delicious, juicy red fruit. This has all the hallmark grace and elegance you expect from La Rioja Alta. You can enjoy it now, though it will be superb in two or three years, giving it time for all the elements of fruit and oak-ageing to harmonise and mellow.
The wine is fresh and vibrant, elegant and balanced, tasty with a combination of white fruit, flowers and herbs. The reds from the year have a lot of concentration, and the white was picked early, which helped keep the acidity. The oaking in 2,000-liter foudres is very soft, and the wine does not show marked by wood. It was bottled in May 2021, and 16,500 bottles and 25 magnums were produced.
