Description

We are delighted to bring you a collaborative dinner with the inimitable Nieves Barragán of the Michelin-starred Sabor. For this one-off event, which promises to be one of the most memorable events of the year, we will open the doors of our General Office Dining Room, located in the heart of our historic home at No. 3 St. James’s.

Nieves worked at top London restaurants including Fino and Barrafina before launching Sabor, which won a Michelin star in its first year of operation. For this very special evening, guests will be treated to a delicious menu curated by Nieves herself, who will be in attendance to introduce dishes and answer any questions you might have.

The wines chosen for this dinner are of equal stature to Nieve's exceptional food, with a selection curated by your fine wine specialist host, Michael Dabbs, that represents Spain's most iconic wineries. The evening will commence with two exceptional wines produced in the Valdeorras region of northwest Spain. Made from the native Godello variety that was once nearly extinct, these intense, minerally white wines perfectly encapsulate the rugged terroir of “The Valley of Gold”. For the fish course, the paired wines will be the esoteric yet incredibly delicious Reserva Blanco and Gran Reserva Rosado from Bodegas R. López de Heredia. Adored by fine wine aficionados for their seemingly endless complexities, these special wines will perfectly offset both the savoury jamón dashi and delicately sweet sea bass. The main event will be a mini, three-vintage vertical of Spain’s “First Growth”, the highly revered Único from Ribera del Duero pioneers, Vega Sicilia. Well known for it’s capacity to age, we will taste this wine across three decades, including the legendary 1970 vintage once described by esteemed wine critic, Neal Martin, as “the best Spanish wine that I have ever tasted” and that retails for £1100+. To conclude, we will sample a delectable hidden gem of a sweet wine from the vertiginous mountainsides of Málaga. Produced in tiny quantities by modern winemaking great, Telmo Rodríguez, we will be lucky enough to try the 2012 iteration which has been released from the winery specifically for the occasion.

In order to retain the intimate feel of this event, tickets will be strictly limited to 4 per transaction. We will not be able to honour bookings of more than 4 guests.
