Learn more about LessonaRead more
Lessona is a DOC viticultural zone in the Province of Biella in the Italian wine region Piedmont, located about 70 kilometres (43 mi) northeast of Turin. Like its most illustrious DOCG neighbours Barolo and Barbaresco, Lessona produces red wines from the region's signature Nebbiolo grape variety. Bonarda and Vespolina grapes have traditionally been used to mellow Nebbiolo's robust character with their fruitier characteristics. Its immediate neighbors are Carema to the west, Bramaterra to the east and Gattinara and Ghemme (both DOCGs).
