An underrated Port vintage that had a much smaller declaration than the 1991s. The year began with the worst winter drought conditions since records began. It hardly rained until June and even then it rained for just a few days. Summer remained dry but the weather was warm rather than baking hot and a few timely rainstorms in August came as a welcome relief to growers. The harvest began on September 21st but those who waited until the beginning of October have produced the finest Ports. The best examples are rich and concentrated - Fonseca and Taylor produced marvellous Vintage Ports.
