2002 Spain

Learn more about 2002 Spain

Southwestern parts of Spain fared best in the 2002 wine vintage, with very cold temperatures in December, followed by drought conditions during the latter part of year affected the start of the Tempranillo growing season. Garnacha vines were spared the damage probably because this variety is more resistant to adverse conditions.

Rioja and Catalonia faced the greatest challenges. This was a vintage of early-drinking wines
