2003 Spain

In 2003 a scorching summer - in common with most of Europe - produced assertive red wines with low acidity levels. Top producers in Rioja, Catalonia (Penedès) and Ribera del Duero achieved good results, however, with all but the best wines ready for drinking by 2009.
