A more stable vintage in Portugal after the excessively hot 2003. There were few problems in any of the red wine producing regions, with the Douro being particularly successful.
There was quite a bit of summer rain throughout the country, but it dried up before the vintage in the north and the late ripening Touriga Nacional was particularly successful in Dão and the Douro. Whites in the south suffered a little from rain during the harvest, but otherwise good wines were made throughout the country.
