The 1990 vintage year in Mosel brought perfect growing conditions throughout the entire season from spring to fall. Contrary to standard experience, the acidity levels did not drop after the grapes reached full maturity. This is also a year of very little botrytis since the air and the soil lacked humidity (which is important for allowing botrytis to spread and develop). Favourable weather during the harvest resulted in near perfect grapes. The wines in 1990 of all categories up to Trockenbeerenauslese are long-lived. An excellent year for Eiswein too.
