Another exceptional vintage ,and remarkably, the eleventh consecutive high quality vintage for German wines. The weather was variable throughout the year - April was very wet, May was exceptionally warm and then temperatures fell in June and July and it rained sporadically. The remainder of the summer was very hot and dry and the rains at the beginning of September came as a welcome relief to growers. The harvest took place in variable weather conditions, which comprised a mixture of rain, wind and sporadic bursts of sunshine. Despite the weather, the quality was generally very high, with the wines displaying good levels of fruit concentration and very little signs of dilution from the harvest rains. Superb Auslese wines were produced,as were some very fine Eisweins.
