A year that was badly affected by the worst spring frosts since 1945 and then by heavy rain throughout September and October. Pomerol and St-Emilion suffered most with much of the crop being annihilated and only a tiny volume of wine being produced. Some producers, such as Cheval Blanc, did not even produce a Grand Vin.
Producers in the Médoc and Graves fared marginally better, with estates such as Latour producing attractive, stylish wines which are drinking well now.
