An uneven vintage due to the vagaries of the weather throughout much of the growing season. The winter was bitterly cold with widespread snowing. Spring was more temperate and the flowering took place in ideal weather at the beginning of June. The weather remained warm and dry, apart from a hailstorm in July, and by late August hopes were high for a very high quality vintage. In the last week the weather turned with a period of damp and unseasonably cold temperatures which lasted through to mid September. The sun came out on the 20th September and the remainder of autumn was an ideal combination of misty mornings and sunny afternoons.
The best wines were the Vendages Tardives and the Sélection de Grains Nobles from the best growers who made a rigorous selection in the vineyard. All wine should be fully mature by now.
