"This may be the finest Cheval Blanc since the monumental 2000.... .A deep
ruby/purple color is accompanied by a classic Cheval perfume of menthol, red as
well as black currants, smoke, oranges, and black tea. It possesses beautiful
sweetness and purity, medium body, extraordinary elegance, and potential
complexity. While not a blockbuster in the style of the 2000 and 1998, it is a
precise, fragrant, potentially top-flight effort as well as one of the finest
wines of the vintage. Anticipated maturity: 2009-2022." 93-95/100
points. (Robert Parker - Wine Advocate - Apr-2005)

"56% Cabernet Franc, 4% Merlot. 30hl/ha.
50% of the crop in the Grand Vin. Good
colour. Rich, fruity, fat and concentrated on
the nose. Nothing hard or ungainly here.
Gently oaky. Fullish body. Very good grip.
Very ripe tannins. Succulent, persistent and
very classy. Lovely fruit. Very long on the
finish. Very fine plus. From 2013." (Clive Coates - The Vine - May-2004)

Director Pierre Lurton has one of the best and hardest jobs in Bordeaux,
managing two of the region's great estates, Cheval Blanc and d'Yquem. In 2006
he been successful once again producing what he rightly calls 'a cashmere'
Cheval Blanc. It is an outstanding wine, with a stylish, velvety texture, power
and elegance and a lovely mouthwatering freshness. It has more Merlot than
usual giving it a seductive richness, along with concentrated raspberry,
blackberry and plum fruit and supple tannins. Just as you think you have tasted
everything, another wave of fruit sweeps in on the long finish. Drink:
2020-2040.

Director Pierre Lurton has produced an extraordinary Cheval Blanc in 2005 with
wonderful purity and class, emphasizing beauty over power. Like so many of the
great 2005s this starts slowly and then snowballs into an avalanche of flavour,
getting more and more complex and intense as it goes. With its floral, bitter
chocolate and ripe black fruit nose this is immediately very different to other
wines we have tasted. Crushed coffee beans enhance the sensational blackberry
fruit amidst a palate of great poise, harmony and luxurious polish

New owners At Cheval Blanc, Beranaard Arnault and Albert Frères, have certainly started off in style. This undoubtedely is one of the stars of the vintage with its sweet, spiced, almost cocoa aromas. It is rich and full on the palate with a superb volume of fruit and only subtle use of oak.
