2010 Campo del Gatto, Colli Tortonesi, Claudio Mariotto, Tortona

Made from approximately 50 year old vines, this wine is made from the Dolcetto grape. Ruby red with purple hues and a foam that can give rise to violet hues, this wine has a fragrant nose and is exuberant when young. It regales hints of red fruit and sour cherry to the nose, and when mature has a pleasant, complex bouquet with hints of almond. On the palate this wine is dry, full-bodied, persistent with a delicate tannic sensation. This wine is a pleasant accompaniment to cured meats, roasts, white meats and local soft or semi-hard cheeses.
