Description

The famous sweet wines of the Tokaji region in Hungary have a rich and illustrious history. Hailed by Louis XIV as ‘the wine of kings and the king of wines’, Tokaji was revered for centuries by everyone from poets to tsars. Tonight you will learn not only about its fascinating history from Tokaji-lover Anne McHale MW, but also about how the wines are made and the intricacies of the region’s subtle terroirs. You will also explore its innovative side with a look at the newer dry styles.  All this will be accompanied by a selection of delicious cheese and canapés.

Wines to be tasted include:

Berrys' United Kingdom Cuvée, Grand Cru, Mailly
2009 Mezes Maly, Dry Furmint
2007 Tokaji Nyulaszo, 6 Puttonyos, Royal Tokaji Wine Company
2005 Tokaji Szt. Tamás, 6 Puttonyos, The Royal Tokaji Wine Company
2005 Tokaji Mezes Maly, 6 Puttonyos, The Royal Tokaji Wine Company
Anne will select four more wines.
