High up in the hills of the Var region of Provence, Domaine de Triennes was founded in 1990 by Jacques Seysses, of Domaine Dujac, along with Aubert de Villaine of Domaine de la Romanée-Conti… quite an impressive pedigree, in other words. The origin of the name comes from the Triennia, the festivities held in honour of Bacchus, which took place every three years in Roman times; events not untouched by a bacchanalian spirit one may assume.
This outstanding Rosé is a blend of old-vine Cinsault, Syrah and Merlot. Skin contact is brief, the aspiration here being a marriage of elegance and gentle fruit. From the onion-skin colouring to the subtle rosehip and wild strawberry flavours, it is clear that this has been achieved with great success in 2014. This wine will provide ideal al fresco fare for summer indolence.
