Description

Get to know your Spanish wine regions: Rías Baixas, Ribeiro, Bierzo, Navarra, Ribera del Duero, Rioja, Priorat, Montsant, Alicante and Navarra. Following a welcome from Rebecca with a glass of special Spanish bubbles, we will sit down and taste three flights of whites in pairs. Each pair has a teaching point about grape variety, region and winemaking method which we hope will be useful in your exploration of Spanish wines. The red wines follow and we link through the famous names of Rioja, Ribera del Duero and Priorat to lesser-known regions such as Bierzo, Navarra, Montsant and Alicante. When we taste a wine, the emphasis will be on climate and geography. We will discover which grapes have a natural affinity with which areas, and we will consider how different styles express their region’s latitude, longitude, aspect, soil, climate and grape-growing ethos.
