Description

Simon Field MW has been buying our Rhône range for more than a decade, cultivating excellent relationships with the growers. The focus of this tasting is on four northern ‘left bank’ appellations, the reputations of which seem to be in inverse proportion to their size. Fortunately we have good allocations of the very best wines, such as Vernay’s legendary Condrieu, Colombo’s Cornas, Coursodon’s St Joseph and, of course, Guigal’s single-vineyard Côte-Rôtie, known affectionately as La-Las. This evening will provide a fascinating opportunity to analyse these appellations and to understand the source of their formidable reputations.

Wines to be tasted:
2005 Champagne Bonnaire, Grand Cru
2013 Condrieu, La Doriane, Maison Guigal
2013 Condrieu, Coteau de Vernon, Domaine Georges Vernay
2013 Condrieu, Bonnette, Mouton
2010 St Joseph Blanc, Le Paradis St Pierre, Domaine Coursodon
2010 St Joseph, Clos de Cuminaille, Domaine Pierre Gaillard
2009 St Joseph, L'Amarybelle, Domaine Yves Cuilleron
2009 Cornas, Domaine du Tunnel
2008 Cornas, Les Grands Muriers, Domaine Ferraton
2010 Cornas, Les Ruchets, Domaine Jean-Luc Colombo
2008 Côte-Rôtie, La Mouline, Domaine Etienne Guigal
2009 Côte-Rôtie, La Landonne, Domaine Jean-Michel Gerin
2010 Côte-Rôtie, Brocarde, Domaine François Villard
