Description

Châteauneuf-du-Pape has long been the biggest, the most influential and the most evocative of the named Southern Rhône villages. But the competition is hotting up, especially from names such as Gigondas, Vinsobres and Cairanne, among others. This tasting will assess not only whether this reputation is deserved, but also the different styles that are now available. Big names such as Vieux Télégraphe, Janasse, Beaucastel and Usseglio will all be presented, needless to say, in addition to a few gems, such as a white Clos des Papes and a rare wine form the inimitable Henri Bonneau.

Wines to be tasted:
2005 Champagne Bonnaire, Blanc de Blancs, Grand Cru
2011 Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Impériale, Domaine Raymond Usseglio
2011 Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Cuvée Reserve, Domaine Roger Sabon
2011 Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Barbe Rac, Michel Chapoutier
2009 Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Les Hautes Brusquières, Domaine Charbonnière
2009 Châteauneuf-du-Pape, La Reine des Bois, Domaine de la Mordorée
2009 Châteauneuf-du-Pape Rouge, La Crau, Domaine du Vieux Télégraphe
2009 Châteauneuf-du-Pape Blanc, Cuvée Beauvenir, Château la Nerthe
2008 Châteauneuf-du-Pape Blanc, Clos des Papes, Paul Avril et Fils
2005 Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Marie Beurrier, Domaine Henri Bonneau
2001 Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Vielles Vignes, Domaine de la Janasse
