Description

The wines of Greece and Cyprus are currently enjoying some well-earnt time in the limelight. Although the two countries’ wines do have some stylistic similarities, they are quite distinct from each other, but they do share their gastronomic qualities. These two countries are the home of mezze and many of the native wines celebrate and complement the variety of flavours to be found on the table. Regional Greek cuisine, as well as the associated wines, vary dramatically from the Balkan influences of the north to the fragmentation of the Aegean islands to the south and east. Cyprus enjoys Greek, Turkish and Lebanese food influences but, despite its more extreme climate, finds its winemaking firmly rooted in Greek cultural soil.
