1996 Ch. Lynch Bages, Pauillac

Ch. Lynch Bages, Pauillac
The fleshy, mouth-filling flavours of this wine, from the exceptional 1996 vintage, leads to great finesse on the finish. With its voluptuous cassis fruit it is a blockbuster to enjoy now but will improve with age. Pauillac at its best.Château Lynch Bages

Ch. Lynch Bages, Pauillac
The 1996 exhibits a dark plum/ruby/purple color that is just beginning to lighten at the edge, surprisingly velvety tannins and a classic Pauillac bouquet of lead pencil shavings, cedarwood, black currants, sweet cherries and spice box. This medium to full-bodied, elegant, savory, broad wine is still five years away from full maturity. It should continue to drink well for another 10-15 years.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Delicious tipple... Tasted at Lynch horizontal dinner, was served with a fish course believe it or not. Come to think of it, have seen this also on the winelist of a renowned mayfair fish restaurant. Bursting with fruit, and oozing cigar box aromas. Nicely in its drinking window. The 1990 was the wine of the night, but I actually preferred this over the 1982. Can be enjoyed with anything. 30 September 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by The definitive Paulliac..highly recommended An amazing wine, the first time I had the the entire table all agreed this was the best BDX we had ever tasted which was quite a statement given the night and what else was on the menu that evening. It has since only been bettered for me by the 1982 LB but I think this had the potential to get there over time if you can leave it alone. Black fruits, soft tannins, cassis, mushroom, leather lead pencil and the most extraordinary balance and precision and an epic long finish -it's only going to get better. A great wine and not one to miss, I bought a case :) 08 September 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by A great wine A fantastic wine. Just super, beautifully ripe fruit. The finish is so, so long. But Parker has, in my humble opinion, got his scoring wrong on this one. The 1995 is to my palate, and to the majority of my companions that day, even better. The difference is not massive but the Parker scoring does get reflected in the pricing. 05 September 2013
