Description

Of all the great traditional Rioja Bodegas which were established close to the Haro railway station in La Rioja Alta, none is more venerable or respected than Vina Toñdonia. Join the charismatic and ebullient Maria José Lopez de Heredia, fourth generation mater familias, for a stylish four course dinner, prepared after careful consultation with Berrys’ Head Chef Stewart Turner and matching the almost infinite complexity of these extraordinary Spanish wines to the rich and generous Iberian cuisine. The revelation here is the ageing potential of Rioja, in both colours, and Maria José will illustrate this to perfection with examples from the last four decades.

Wines to be tasted:

2007 Gramona, Argent Reserva Brut
2000 Viña Tondonia Rosado Gran Reserva, Bodegas R. López de Heredia
1993 Viña Tondonia Blanco Gran Reserva, Bodegas R. López de Heredia
1987 Viña Tondonia Blanco Gran Reserva, Bodegas R. López de Heredia
2001 Viña Tondonia Tinto Reserva, Bodegas R. López de Heredia
1991 Viña Tondonia Tinto Gran Reserva, Bodegas R. López de Heredia

Napoleon Cellar Dinners

Napoleon Cellar Dinners

Join us at one of our popular Napoleon Cellar Dinners for a memorable evening of fine wine, fine cuisine and fine companyTucked away beneath our shop in the heart of central London, the cellars were once the largest working cellars in the capital. In 1999 they were converted to create London's most exclusive fine dining venue.

The impressive vaulted Napoleon Cellar (view virtual tour here) was so named after Napoleon III, who plotted his return to France here whilst in exile in England between 1838 and 1848.

Arrive at 6.30pm to a welcoming Champagne aperitif in our historic shop, before descending to the imposing Napoleon Cellar for a sumptuous four-course dinner and a myriad of fabulous wines. Throughout the evening your host and the wine estate’s representative will talk to you about the wines, sharing their knowledge and views, and helping you decide which you like best and why.
