Excellent growing condiditions in Mosel until late September. Two weeks of constant rain in October threatened the harvest. The Riesling grapes, however, somehow survived the deluge without major dilution problems. The harvest finally began in the fouth week of October, after the rainwater had completely dried off. The 1993 vintage produced juicy wines with ripe fruit and a soft, harmonious acidity. Everything from Kabinett to Beerenauslese and TBA were made. Very attractive Eiswein resulted from early frost in the third week of November. Some grapes were left on the vines waiting for a deeper frost, but these were all lost in the mild weather and the intense rainfall of December 1993 and January 1994.
