London to Lima is a producer of grape-based gin in Peru. The operation is the brainchild of former British Army Captain Alex James, who upped sticks with his wife, Karena, and their young family in 2012. Alex distils the base spirit for his gins by first producing Pisco, which he makes from Quebranta grapes. He sources his water from glacial springs in the Cordillera Blanca; glaciers, he says, are “distilled water on a massive scale”. For his gin, he works with a wide range of botanicals, including juniper, pink peppercorn, Limón Sutíl and Valencia orange, among others. To read the London to Lima story in Alex’s own words, read his article on our blog, London to Lima and back again.
